um ... work them in parallel (hey, does anyone remember transputer chips that were going to change the face of computing in the 1980s ...)

Probably best to have some kind of idea as to what the film is to be about first - otherwise what are you going to be visualising?

However, apparently, Hitchcock used to have a stock of scenes he'd like to do stored in his head. He would then pluck them out when required. One example of this is the Mount Rushmore scene which he used in North by Northwest.

PS Miker, what 's a transmuter chip? Is that what they used on Battle of the Planets when they wanted to turn into the fiery Phoenix - transmute!
